Map Reading – Taking Bearings

Taking bearings can be the key to you taking the correct path on your expedition. In todays lesson we will be looking at how you take a bearing on a map, apply it to your hike and use it when you are not sure which way to go.

To start, we need to make sure we know how the compass works, if you are not sure about this, revisit Map Reading – The Compass

I am going to use the following video to do the lesson but will also put some different explanations below as this is a topic some people find hard to pick up.
